I regularly go to a yoga fusion studio by my house called SuTRA. All of their classes are yoga/pilates/ballet fusion conditioning, and I LOVE IT.

Because of some trips coming up in August, I am unable to pay for this months classes, so I have been looking for something that can keep my interest and do at home. I have always been a fan of the 10 Minute Solution series, as they have a variety of different types of workouts, but I am bored with those.

SO! I found this:

I really enjoyed it! It is somewhat deceiving as it isn't entirely Pilates.. but there are some great moves in it. My heart rate definitely elevated, and the routine was actually fun.

Most of the time, I turn off workout videos in the middle, but I made my way all the way to the end without the thought. There are a few ballet conditioning movements, which I liked, as well as some mat work for a cool down.

I have also just recently acquired the book Anatomy of the Spirit.

I am still in the midst of reading, as I figure as I read things that inspire me, I will for sure share.

This is a little review on Amazon. Pretty much all the reviews on there about this book rave of a "life-changing experience" from reading it.

I found this note hidden in a pocket of a journal at Liberty Market that they put out for people to doodle in while waiting for their food. It reads:

"This is a love note. I don't know who it's to yet but I guess if you are reading it, it's to you. Yes, I love you dear reader, because you fill me with hope that some how in this vast world, my writing may bring you a bit of joy which, in turn causes my heart to flutter a bit. I have pretty much always done what I wanted. I am fortunate enough to say that. But I am getting older and things are changing, and I really need to figure out what I want to do long term. I am starting to feel more strongly about school but which way do I want to go.. I am interested in so many things, I can't seem to really figure out what to focus on primarily.

Graphic/ Media Design?

Anthropology?

Nutrition? (I have become growingly more intrigued and interested in nutrition and healing)

I would also like to go to school full time, but this would put a burden on my financial situation. People have advised me to get student loans to live on, but I honestly would prefer not to put myself into more debt when I am so close to getting out. blahhhh!!!

vegan item review

So yesterday, Adam and I went to Green which is a vegan restaurant in Tempe, Az.. Every time we go, I always want to buy something from their little market, and I never do.. Well this time, I decided to snag a box of Mac & Chreese to satisfy my love for mac and cheese. (Adam wont eat it because he says it reminds him of Ton-Ton insides (you'd know this if you are a nerd too))

You will need :

a box of Mac & Chreese (available here)

Soy milk

vegan butter, I use Smart Balance LIGHT (it is the only vegan one of the Smart Balance)

and a pot of water

Same steps as regular M&C, very simple to make.

It may look a little weird, but it tastes GREAT! I really enjoyed it... I added sriracha to mine, because I am addicted to it, but even without it, the Mac & Chreese was delicious.

There are some B vitamins and nutritional yeast in the "cheese" powder, so it even has some healthy additions. :)

And I think the girl is just DARLING. The band is called La patère rose, and all of their songs I've heard so far are excellent. They are from Montreal, where my new friend V is from, have you heard these guys V?!

I brought the ol' camera to work tonight to shoot some of the restaurant for the site. But, regular photos get boring to take sometimes.. so I went on my own tangent. I think they turned out pretty neat.

A friend of mine always posts some really cool photos, and I asked her what she shoots with. She has a Praktica LTL.. so I went to ebay, and found a Praktica MTL for super cheap.. so hopefully I win the bid!

I forget how much I love photography sometimes.

I started my Cultural and Social Anthropology class on Thursday.. I have already learned so much just in the 3 hours of the first day.. I can't wait to share some of the interesting things I discover in this class. My professor told us that when he took this course when he was in college, he had so many life changing epiphanies, and it also was that class that made him decide to further an education in Anthropology.

Also, Adam and I went to a park to eat our lunch today, and these two dudes were playing Disc Golf... (don't ask, I had never heard of it)... and they were so funny.. at one point, on of the guys just screamed out.. "HOORAY FOR EVERYTHING!"/

I have decided to try and make this my motto.

Today, Adam and I went to Green for some lunch, which of course, was excellent. The we stopped off at Savers, and I got 2 pairs of shorts, both of which happened to be from Old Navy. I have since been sitting online all night.. on a Friday. Because I am that awesome.

While we were at Green, I reached into my wallet and found this... I have never been to Afghanistan...

So a while ago, I had posted about a project in my 2D class where we had to write our life story, but we couldn't take more than 24 hours to do it, and we had to at least write for an hour. The more detailed we got, the better the grade. I just found mine again, and decided to post it on here. I realized after writing it last semester, that I have (had, or am still working on) a co-dependence issue. After the initial introduction to my life, the story starts to be about the boys I dated.. rather than who I was, and I realized after writing it, that I need to focus on ME.

So my next life story.. I will send it into a different direction.

I HIGHLY recommend this project to anyone, even if you don't show anyone. It's pretty revealing to one's self how you categorize things and which events you share because you found them important.

Here is how you do it. You can take breaks from writing, but you can not exceed 24 hours of writing the story. If you want to be vague, at least write for one hour. Post it if you are comfortable, or keep it safe to go back to one day.

I am somewhat nervous about posting this... but, ultimately, I learned from it, and it has helped me to realize where I was weak.

So, a little over 3 months ago, Adam's car got stolen right outside our apartment. We have been sharing a car since, and Adam has been using his bike when I had the car.
Someone walked up our private staircase, stood right out side our front door with the porch light on, and cut the bike lock to his dad's vintage 70's Schwinn that has been in the family forever... while we were home.
Needless to say, we are leaving this complex, and I have not had anytime to work on my shop, or homework and I feel stressed out and asdkjf;alsdjkf;alsfdkja;slkfa

I was cleaning off my hard drive, and I found these two little pieces I wrote. They made me laugh. The first one is something I wrote after the guy I was with cheated on me, which forced me to live alone for the first time in my life.

we'll call it:

a sign that the brain is, in fact, not connected to the heart.

if my brain is racing at 300 times my heart rate, that is, in fact, the sign that they are not connected.

it starts with a broken girl who found herself (found, in the figurative sense) while being broken. she knows why she is, and she knows who she is, but she is still broken. mostly because everyone is broken, but temporarily held together (adhesed, if i may make up words) by the magical world of.... whatever holds them together.

i think what holds us together is the comforting fact that we are all broken.

which is a catch-22, but i'll make it the definitive anyway.

He writes. Maybe stories, maybe songs, or poetry, but either way, he writes.

Have you ever been so involved in something that you get tunnel vision, and nothing around you particularly matters at the moment? That is the feeling of reading his work.

In high school once, I asked him if he was happy.

He told that no one has asked him that in a long time.

I've always hoped he'd use that in a story.

finding inspiration in strange places

I have been watching LA Ink lately. It was a show I did not expect to really care for, but I find it really inspiring. From the actual art itself to the stories people share.. it's just really a good show for me. I have thought about becoming a tattoo artist.. but I am just not confidant enough with my art as it is to permanently do it on someone's body. Anyway, the show really has got me drawing more, and working through my issues with value and shading.. Imagine that!

I have got to say that I think Kat von D, herself, is also very inspiring. She is a young woman that found her calling, and is making a crap load of money with her business and branding. Just having started this Indie Business course, I have a feeling I will see a lot of similarities in Kat's stories about her venture to become successful and the woman I will get to know.

The lovely V was the first to connect with me about doing the photo collab. She gave me permission to use any writing in her blog (which you should definitely check out here, because her writing is perfectly touching, and I plan to use her writing for more photo ideas).
I chose this one because I was once engaged to a boy who constantly was writing music for his little solo project, and all the lyrics seemed to be about someone else.. and when I had asked him about it, he said it was just made up stuff.. I was always trying to look for myself in his songs (because after all I was engaged to him, I thought he was in love with me) and I never found them. I found his ex girlfriend in most of his songs instead. It was an awful feeling.. and I hope you never feel that way.

I finally am done with work for a few days and will be able to work on some photo stuff, as well as etsy stuff! I have been working on the computer all day, so this will be short.

I am super excited for everything that is going on in March. I was super lucky, and was able to sign up for the Indie Business 2.0 course! It is going to be such a great adventure, and I hope to meet some awesome girls along the way.

We have had a ton of rain today.. but it left me with this... and I am not going to complain...

dear lord, I can't seem to figure out what is wrong with me! Lately, I have just been getting in these trances where I am miserable, and for no reason. Everyone makes me angry or I just get super quite.. and nothing neccesarily sparks it. It's starting to worry me, because I definitely don't want to be a drag to be around. When I am in my normal or good moods, I am great! But these creepy trances must go!

For Lent, (I am not Catholic or believe in any religion per se, but I like the idea of Lent) I am giving up drinking. This is going to be challenging as my job and everyone I am with is based around drinking. (Which seems somewhat sad, saying aloud.. or typing)

Anyway, we hosted a Mardi Gras party at my work.. It was a lot of fun.. I wore some crazzyyyyy false eyelashes, and the other girls got all dolled up as well...

Adam's birthday was on Saturday, and we went to yoga, then took a nap, followed by a delicious dinner at Blue Nile Cafe, which serves some amazing Ethiopian food. After dinner, we went to the Jack's Mannequin/ fun. concert. And dare I say, fun. is by far my favorite band of 2009, and in the lead for 2010.

On my Silk coffee creamer, the top of the carton says, "Shake well & smile often". I love that. In fact, it did make me smile! I have been feeling really stuck lately. I don't know if it is Phoenix, or the time of year.. but I am just blah. I have been thinking about quitting my job, and forcing myself to be creative to make money. Whether it be on etsy, or.. freelance stuff.. I don't know, but there is a lot that I am not able to do because of work, and feeling drained when i am done. I actually really dislike the people I work for. They are ignorant, a little too playful with the female staff, and really just... I don't care for them. But I need to make a certain amount of money every month, as do most people and I am just not sure I can do that without a 'real' job.

I have to tell you, I am so tired of moving. I don't even want to decorate, I am so tired. Not only that, but I have two midterms due tomorrow, and I haven't even so much as glanced at the material.

For about the past month or so I have been eating horribly. I probably put on about 5 pounds, which, after this weekend will begin to shed. I have a plan! And I will get to it, I just need to unpack more first.

This picture totally made my night. It's not anyone I know, which makes it even better.

I hard the WORST time falling asleep last night. I don't know why, most of the time I can crash pretty hard. When I woke up this morning, I read on numberous blogs/fb/ whatever, that 10+ of my "friends" (internet or real life) also had a hard time getting to sleep.

I am not sure if this is just some silly coincidence, or if something greater was happening.

Lately, I am really starting to love word imagery. I use it quite often in my sketchbook, and just.. I don't know, I really get excited when I read a good one.

I feel like with new weather comes new attitudes. I know I always tend to feel most happy when it's nice outside. Adam and I got a really cute apartment that we get to move into on the 26th. I can not wait to get out of this awful one we are in now. The manager is so horrible, and she is constantly talking so loud, you can hear her entire conversation from across the courtyard whilst in your apartment! After we turned in our intent to vacate, she called both Adam and me and asked us when she can set a time up for people to come look at it.... How about after we move? I do not feel comfortable with people walking through my stuff, with my animals, knowing where I live, and what is in my apartment. Not only that, but she lives in the apartment below ours, and has the same floor plan. I am not sure why she can't show hers. It would be more convenient and I don't know... more professional. We are in the middle of packing and it's a mess in here, and I am not planning on cleaning so she can bring people through.

Blah, I really am in a good mood. Sometimes I just need to rant.

I am not as unhappy as I look.

For my Two Dimensional Design class, we are doing a Miranda July project. We have no more than 24 hours to write our life story. I am on page 6 with no paragraph spacing, and I just can't type anymore. After this post, of course. So that will leave me with I think 2 more hours to write.

We are also supposed to make paper dolls of ourselves... I am not the best paper doll maker, but I will try and take a picture when I am done.

I got my dress from lostleaf.etsy.com, and I am very happy with it! Luckily, I had a super cute red belt to wear it with.

It's really nice to have a friend that, not only listens to you, but actually can give you the EXACT insight you were looking for.

Adam and I went and saw Inglorious Basterds. I loved it! It was just extremely well done, and I have to say.. I have somewhat of a girl crush on Melanie Laurent.

She is so beautiful, and there is a scene in that movie that just made me believe she is one of the greatest actresses I have seen in quite a while!

I am really wanting to see 500 Days of Summer still, but the reason I haven't is because I am legitimately afraid it is going to make me wish certain things about my relationship are different. Or maybe I should say.. it will make me miss the newness more than I really should. I tend to mistake fiction for reality quite often.

In two weeks or so, we are taking a road trip to Sacramento to see my Christina and Rick. This could not have come at a better time, as I am ready ready ready to get out of Phoenix for a while!!

I can't believe I forgot to mention starting school! I have 3 classes this semester which is more than I have taken at once due to working. But this semester I have history of Photography, Math (fml), and Two Dimensional Design. Go me. Now trying to find money for the books.... thats a great place to go from here.

In other news, I was able to get some pictures of my newest purchases from the Brass Armadillo! We got this super cute tea kettle with a little piggy painted on it :

And I got this bowl set. There are actually 4 bowls, but I am using the smallest one to hold my whitening strips.

Last night, we went to trivia at the Dubliner with a bunch of friends and Bobby, Adam's friend

made me this... which I think is pretty neat!

Today, Adam and I went to Green, which we haven't done in.... forever. As always, it was excellent. We also look forward to seeing what the special is going to be for the day since it isn't ever something that's on the menu. Today the special was a Big Wac, which was a vegan version of a big mac, and it was effing AMAZING. Afterward we went to the Antique Trove right down the street, and pretty much wanted everything in the store.

On Thursday, a few participating movie theaters are playing a Mystery Science Theater 3000! A friend and I are definitely going to be there.

Clearly not a "raw" meal, but a tasty one nonetheless. With the produce from the Farmers Market, we made a brunch consisting of tofu bhurji (which we serve at my work, but this was my own version), skillet potatoes, and toast.
I hate to toot my own horn, but it was awesome. It's so much easier to eat healthy when you enjoy cooking. Although, most the stuff I make or have made never came(s) out like planned.

Oh, well.

Try, and try again.

ALSO! I have sold a couple more things at my store. It has re-motivated me to keep working hard.

Adam and I are sort of playing with the idea of eating a raw vegan diet. It's pretty drastic so.. it's possible it may not happen. Nonetheless, today I went to the Farmer's Market and got some locally grown produce, and some DELICIOUS breads. On the way back I took some photos, which I haven't been doing lately due to lack of inspiration.

I really can't wait until I move to Sacramento. I can't wait to be able to hang out with my friends whenever I want to. I can't wait to start over, kind of, and maybe find what it is I am looking for. (Don't ask me, because I don't know what it is yet.)

Tonight while Adam was at work, I made these tasty Vegan Peanut Butter Cups, whose recipe I found at sugar-skull.com .

She has a great website, I really love it.

They were super easy to make, and they taste AWESOME. Of course my presentation could have been better, but who am I trying to impress? ;)

I uploaded finally, the photos from the Sacramento road trip I took with Jeff at the beginning of this month.

Here is something from it.

Adam and I are making a few things for our get-togethers with our families.
For my parents house we are making a vegan greenbean casserole and vegan pumpkin brownies which I found the recipe for here.

For his parents I made a vegan potato salad from Skinny Bitch, and also bringin' some of those bad boys ^^^....

Adam was away for the night last night and it made me really sad... it was totally weird being in a place that normally feels like home, but when you take the main thing out of it, it feels strange.

My best friend (who turned out not to be such a great best friend) and I went to a cute little place to eat before she left me for 2 weeks to go home to Michigan. When we walked in, there was a boy standing at the register taking the order of someone else, and a girl at the empty register.

So we were forced to go to the girl to place our orders.

The whole time we were trying to figure out what we wanted to eat (since neither of us had ever been there) I caught this fella behind the other register looking over once or twice. Now when I first saw him, I wasn't immediately smitten with he looks... he is a VERY handsome boy, dont get me wrong, but that is not what first caught my attention.

I cant even explain what caught my attention, because it was an emotional or spiritual connection I felt with the boy behind the counter. SO after ordering, Sarah and I went to a table, and waited for our food to be brought to us. And guess who brought it out...... the boy did.

He made small talk, and of course when he walked away Sarah pointed out that I was blushing, and I kept saying how 'I had to do something', even though I am a huge chicken. Towards the end of lunch, the boy brought a plate out to the coffee bar, and sat down and took a bit.

I knew this was all being set up for me.. by fate, or.. whatever, so I got the balls and took out a little notebook I always carry around and wrote this.. :::

As soon as he walked away, I ran to the plate and slid it under, and grabbed Sarah's arm and RAN out of the restaurant.

He ended up calling me a couple hours later, and I didn't make it to the phone in time. He left me a long message explaining that he was Adam from Soma and was flattered, and felt an attraction to me, but unfortunately was in a relationship. If I wanted to call him back I could call him back if I wanted to, and that he would love to hear from me.

So I called him back, and we ended up talking for a little while, and found out that we went to the same school (just a couple years apart) and that we liked the same music, and knew some of the same people... but I told him that I didn't want to be that girl that talks to the guy with a girlfriend... so we didnt talk for about two weeks, when...

My boss had told me that she ordered food from Soma and if I would please go get it...

GOD DAMNIT.. the last thing I wanted to do was see Adam, the connection boy that I couldn't do anything about because he had a girlfriend..

Well he was the one at the register, and a HUGE smile came across his face when he saw me.

He said to me, " I was going to call you when I got off of work!"

BULLSHIT, was, of course, the only thing that came into my mind. But instead I said, " You don't have to say that."

" No I am serious, I was wondering if you liked baseball?"

"Um, I guess I like going to games... but not really on tv/."

" Well I was wondering if you would like to go with my friend and me to the game tomorrow night"

I told him I didnt know (because in my head he was still with that girl) and that I had to get back to work..

So a little later he text me asking if he could come to my work and explain the situation.. and I said yes. Turns out him and this girl have been off and on for quite some time, and he didnt want to tell me that when we first met because he wanted to make sure it was completely over before he starting hanging out with a new girl.

We went to the game, and have been together every single day since. Its been a little over a year.

this is getting long, and my fingers hurt, and i have been throwing up all day, so tomorrow i will finish

I am not really saying that I am an alcoholic... however, I do know that I drink a lot even if I don't want to, or plan to.

And it isn't effecting our relationship on the surface, but I think it would only help make it better if I quit.

So, I have made the conscience decision today, that I am going to be sober. I am not going to tell anyone, not even Adam. This is for me.

And my journal.

So I was in this room that I was not familiar with, but Kaitlin Olson, Glenn Howerton, and Charlie day were in there with me. It was dark with a bed and we just all hung out on the bed for a while, talking and drinking and being weird.. other things took place but I can't really remember..

Later on, the 4 of us decided to go out, and we went to a huge building that had all sorts of different drinking places.. and I was walking with Charlie (and we had been naturally flirting with eachother.. one of those, its not reallt flirting its just how i talk to you type sitch) anyway, I kept trying to ask him around the bush questions to get him to tell me he wanted me... and finally he stopped walking, and was like

" YES YES alright, i think you are freakin beautiful and funny and we should make babies because they would be funny.. and i cant really do anything because you are dreaming."

and then i woke up.

i have never had a dream where someone actually tells me I am dreaming.. I have dreamt something scary and been able to remind myself it is a dream.

but it was weird.

but i got to see this guy.

i am not really a bad person, but i feel like one after doing this.. but i was looking for an old notebook of mine, and i happened to come across some of adams... so i read one.. (because it feel open on the floor, eh heh) and i figured out it was a quote book where he writes down all the memorable quotes he likes.

well the very last one in the entire book looked like this:

Why would anyone want a career? I just don't see what is so fulfilling about worrying if you are going to get laid-off, whether its a year from now, or after 29 years of dedicated service.

I think the world would be better if everyone found a passion, and did it for themselves. I know its unrealistic, but we'd all be happier. We wouldnt have to kill people...

(unless that is your passion)

and even then we would have some wicked population control.
